Acting to share vital water in the Chartreuse region

1 escape = 50 €
The project is waiting for its first donation!
The project
NatureSensibilization
Water is essential to mankind, but also to all forms of life. Climate crisis and biodiversity crisis are intimately linked: like us, wildlife is suffering the effects of climate change, causing water stress with numerous consequences that can lead to increased mortality.
The situation is already problematic, especially in mountainous karst areas such as Chartreuse, where wildlife suffers not only from a lack of water but also from greater difficulty in accessing it.
Action regions
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
496
vertebrate animal species found in Chartreuse. All are dependent on the presence of water in their territory.
129
of which only 9 are functional for wildlife in their current state
150
drinking troughs that could be equipped with an escape route
Solution
In 2024/2025, Le Pic Vert carried out a census of water points in Chartreuse above 1000m altitude, water points that have often been developed (drinking troughs...) to enable their use for livestock and humans. The Pic Vert then proposed actions to ensure access to water for all, humans and wildlife alike:
- develop existing water points or create new ones (ponds) where they are absent
- make artificial water points more operational by installing escape routes.
Use of the money
Your donation will enable the association to finance the purchase of at least 100 watering hole escape routes. These escape routes are anti-drowning devices that enable small wildlife (birds, amphibians, insects, small mammals...) to easily extract themselves from the water trough. Our co-president Jean-François Noblet, contributed to the design of this innovative device.

Concerned about the state we're leaving our planet to our children, I've been involved with Pic Vert for 10 years now.
I've found a motivated and dynamic team who carry out simple but concrete and highly effective actions to preserve biodiversity!
