Solution
In Cambodia, the school system is underdeveloped and a large number of families live far from schools, colleges and lycées. They may have to walk for several hours, or use expensive means of transport to get there.
Moreover, Cambodia is a predominantly rural country where agricultural work is labor-intensive. In many provinces, children therefore stop school early to help their families work in the fields.
Enfants du Mékong tries to alleviate this problem by explaining to families the importance of education for a better future and hosting young people from very poor families in centers close to high schools.
In these school centers, like the one in Sisophon, teenagers are housed and fed. They learn to live in a community. They also receive additional courses and human training so they can learn to give the best of themselves and be active players in their future!
The association is also present in Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos and Burma.
The money will be used for
Your donation will fund:
- Housing and daily meals to provide balanced accommodation and meals for the young people;
- School support and training through additional courses, educational materials and teaching staff to enhance their education. We also aim to develop their social skills to live in the community and best prepare for their future;
- Quality social follow-up by accompanying young people and their families socially and academically;
- Family awareness by visiting parents regularly to share the importance of education and reduce school dropout.
THANK YOU for offering these young Cambodians a chance to continue their studies in good conditions, develop skills for the future, and hope for a better life through education!
