Challenge
Elderly
Habit'âge was born out of the personal story of Vanessa Couvreux Chapeau, the association's coordinator.
Becoming a widow in 2012, her partner's grandmother was forced to leave her uncomfortable home and move away from her village to join a retirement home.
It was from this situation that a group of residents got together to answer this question:
What are the brakes on staying to age in the village, close to friends and family?
What are the brakes on staying to age in the village, close to friends and family?
At the same time, they observed abandoned buildings in the heart of villages that were just begging to be brought back to life.
Restoring built heritage to transform them into shared living spaces for the elderly - the Habit'âge idea was born!"
Solution
A future Habit'âge home is to be built in Maine-et-Loire at La Boissière-sur-Èvre, opening in 2024. This renovation in the heart of the village is in the design phase, the house will accommodate 4 T2 apartments, a conviviality room and landscaped common outdoor spaces (courtyard, garden...) facing the village.
This renovation will be carried out using eco-designed and bio-sourced materials, in order to respect the environment and further integrate the project into a sustainable development approach.
The originality of this project is to involve the commune's inhabitants and elected representatives, as well as those involved in the ageing process, in all stages of the design process.

Installation of the framework and creation of a courtyard
For the past week, the Habit âge house has finally had a roof...but also a courtyard that will welcome, from spring 2025, the elderly of the house and the village for times of games, debates and conviviality.
progress, progress...
While Habit'âge inaugurates its second home in Maine-et-Loire, the construction site at La Boissière-sur-Evre is making rapid progress. In the meantime, the team goes out to meet interested seniors to better understand this senior solidarity housing project.
The money will be used for
The money raised will be used to finance exterior landscaping work (low wall, garden, accessibility...) for common areas intended for the house's residents, but also for villagers during occasional events.
In addition, this collection will finance the creation of a courtyard, a hallmark element of Habit âge houses, a place for exchange, confidence and conviviality.
