Supporting people after a disabling accident

Each year, we support around a hundred young people who have become disabled. For them, the onset of disability often means a break with school and a loss of bearings.

After a few months of project preparation, at the end of October we launched the first actions of our new mentoring program, of which we are very proud!

It gives young (and not so young) CLA beneficiaries a solid partner to support them in their career or orientation projects. We make sure that the profiles are complementary, to help them achieve their goals in the best possible way (help with CVs, career advice, inspiration), for the duration of a 6-month accompaniment!

Mobility is the first difficulty encountered by our beneficiaries on leaving the center. We have therefore developed our mobility curricula to meet this specific need.

They are made up of 4 workshops:

- Manipulating the wheelchair in town: to work on moving around in urban and everyday space in a fun way (treasure hunt, skate-park, ...).

- Repair your wheel/chair maintenance workshop: an essential workshop for complete autonomy! It's usually led by a volunteer disability referent.

- Falling and getting up from the ground: to better apprehend falls, getting to safety on the ground, getting up or knowing how to ask for help.

- Discovering mobility equipment: to find out about mobility aids that help preserve your joints and enable you to go further in your movements.

In September, the Hauts-de-France branch therefore carried out this curriculum, of which here's an overview!"
