The Ecological Transition Schools - ETRE were created to build a training path adapted to young people who have dropped out of the conventional school system, while accelerating the ecological transition through trades and skills. The spin-off project involves the creation of 10 schools a year throughout France, to support as many young people as possible.

Solution
Every year in France, more than 100,000 young people leave the school system without any diploma. At the same time, the green transition is gaining momentum, and related professions are booming. According to ADEME, by 2050, nearly 1 million jobs will be created as part of the green transition.
The ETRE schools were founded to turn this dual challenge into an opportunity: to develop a training program tailored to young people who have dropped out of the conventional school system, while accelerating the ecological transition through jobs and skills.
The Schools for Ecological Transition (ETRE) support and train young people facing difficulties in manual trades related to the ecological transition (ecological agriculture, bicycle repair, green building, etc.).
In these free training programs for participants, young people discover various green and emerging green professions through hands-on workshops, explore their career paths, and acquire a wide range of skills.
The first ETRE school was founded in Lahage (31) in 2017. Following the efforts of several project leaders who facilitated the opening of 10 new schools in France, the incubation program was launched in 2022, enabling the creation of 10 new schools each year since then.

Why we love it?
The ETRE schools' genius idea is to combat school dropout and the loss of a sense of purpose, by providing fun training in the professions involved in the ecological transition: take part in the creation of a new school specializing in the sustainable management of green spaces!
One day a young girl said to me: "Thank you for creating a school for people who don't like school".
