Promoting Equal Opportunity

They started from almost nothing. For some, not even a bicycle. And yet, a few months later, they were crossing Europe. At the Cours La Cordée - Espérance Banlieues in Roubaix, some 40 young people aged 11 to 15 took on an extraordinary challenge: to cycle 300 kilometers in three days, across four countries. The documentary "La Cordée, du quartier à l'Europe", directed by Massimo Vercaigne, retraces this extraordinary human and collective experience. In it, we discover young people growing up, gaining confidence, overcoming their differences and proving that with a demanding framework, trust and lasting support, anything becomes possible. Today, this collective adventure has reached a new milestone: the documentary has been selected for the festival Tous En Selle, the first 100% bicycle film festival present in some twenty towns in France and Belgium. And the adventure doesn't stop there: the documentary will also be screened in September at the European Parliament in Brussels.

We are proud to unveil our new identity. We wanted it to be more faithful to what is lived day after day in school. And closer to those we support. In this video manifesto, students, parents, teachers and educational teams proclaim loud and clear our raison d'être. They all talk about what makes the Espérance banlieues model so unique: ✅ a demanding, caring, human-scale setting, ✅ that meets the needs of the child ✅ in close collaboration with families ✅ to help them grow and succeed. Through these images and words, we wanted to highlight a reality that has mobilized us all for over 14 years. In some territories, children grow up with a field of possibilities restricted by a glass ceiling of opportunities. It's for them that our schools exist. It's for them that we've dreamed of a school that goes further. This new visual identity doesn't change our course: it simply makes it more visible to carry it further. Our ambition remains intact: to believe in every child and give them the means to succeed. ✨
