Helping Disadvantaged Youth Rediscover a Love of School

It's 8 o'clock on this Thursday morning in a school on the outskirts of Bordeaux. While it's still quiet in the corridors, a CM1 pupil approaches Olivia, our interventionist, with a huge smile: "Oh hello! Are you coming to our class today?" His girlfriend asks: "Who's that?"And she answers, with disarming obviousness: "It's the lady who's coming to explain to us what school's for." This little phrase is the heart of our mission at Le Sens de l'École. It's the spark that gives our courses their full meaning. 💡 When mistakes become a driving force 🧠 During the day's workshop, the children discovered a big secret: our intelligence isn't fixed at birth. It's like a muscle that develops... provided we're willing to exercise it. Together, we deconstructed the fear of failure. We've transformed error: it's no longer a "fault" to be ashamed of, but a great opportunity to learn. Try, adjust, try again, persevere... these are the real ingredients of the progression we transmit through reflection, debate, play. The impact in their words ✨ At the end of the workshop, it's the students who speak best of it: "I learned that it's useful to make mistakes and that it helps you become smarter when you correct them."" Dear Difteurs, Le Sens de l'Ecole wishes you a year full of meaning and impactful projects. Thank you for being at our side to bring this ambition to life! We are pleased to transmit our Activity Report. "After a failure, you have to bounce back like a balloon, not break like an egg." This sentence from a CM1 pupil sums up what we're trying to provoke: a change of outlook on intelligence, on school, on oneself. In 2024-2025, 8900 priority education students, from CE2 to 6e, took part in our workshops. The opportunity to think differently about their schooling, put words to their obstacles, their dreams and reconnect with the desire to learn. Le Sens de l'École celebrated its 5th anniversary. 5 years of partnerships with teachers, driven by one conviction: every child has incredible potential, which they can deploy at school when they feel they belong and it makes sense to them. Our Activity Report looks back on this collective adventure: - rapid development, without abandoning pedagogical rigor, - massive trust from teachers,- measured effects on students and adults,- the energy of a community committed to the field. You'll find numbers, but also voices: those of students and teachers. So much proof that changing the way we look at things can change trajectories.
