Dear Difteur-ses,
Victory! On Monday, May 5, 2025, the Paris police prefect, Laurent Nuñez, was overruled by the Paris administrative court, which ruled in favor of the solidarity associations.
A little flashback to explain the context:
On October 9, 2023, the Paris police prefect issued an order banning food distributions in Paris, in a delimited sector of the 10ᵉ and 19ᵉ arrondissements, from Tuesday, October 10, 2023 to Friday, November 10, 2023 inclusive.
This order was aimed at preventing street people from accessing their only source of food, thereby infringing the freedom to come and go, the freedom of assembly, the principle of human dignity, the international convention on the rights of the child, the right to food and the right to assistance.
We had therefore immediately filed a summary annulment as well as a request for suspension before the Paris Administrative Court.
The aim: to have the decree suspended until a judge could rule on the merits. On Sunday evening, we organized a large food distribution at the foot of the Stalingrad metro station, on the edge of the forbidden zone, with associations, people concerned and supporters, to protest against this abject decision.
This Monday, May 5, 2025, i.e. 1 and a half years after the banning order was issued, the Paris Administrative Court handed down its decision: it purely and simply annulled the order.
The fight goes on.
We will systematically challenge these violations and infringements of fundamental rights.
A big THANK YOU for your support!
