Natural regeneration is the driving force behind the forest’s recovery after a fire. The soil, the seed bank, and the biodiversity spared by the flames immediately initiate a new ecological cycle. To protect this dynamic, we acquire fire-damaged plots and allow them to regenerate without human intervention by designating them as protected areas. By relying on natural processes, we support the resilience of ecosystems in the face of ongoing changes.

Solution

At ETATS SAUVAGES, we purchase fire-damaged plots to preserve them for the long term. We identify and protect plots where non-intervention is the best choice given the ecological stakes. This approach preserves deadwood, maintains a microclimate favorable to seedling growth, and protects the genetic diversity of the forests.

Use of the money

Your donations will primarily fund the acquisition of land or the legal protection of fire-damaged forests with high ecological potential. This land ownership ensures that these forests can evolve freely over the long term, protected from any human intervention. The funds will also support scientific monitoring of natural regeneration and the development of awareness-raising initiatives in the field to change perceptions of these damaged ecosystems.
