Raising young people's awareness of the oceans with the Under The Pole caravan

Dear Difteur-ses,

Since the beginning of February, our caravan has been touring schools in the Brittany region: Quimper, Rennes, Janzé, Saint-Brieuc...

Our educational team, made up of Claire and Emma, is multiplying animations in schools, collèges and lycées to bring students a better understanding of our oceans and their preservation.

At the end of March, we were also present at la Grande Marée, the Ocean Festival at the Musée de la Marine in Paris, where Emmanuelle and Ghislain exchanged views live from the Why!

It's back to school time at Under The Pole!

After a well-deserved break in August, our teams hit the road again this morning, heading for La Ciotat. 
For 5 weeks, we'll be welcoming teams from the CNRS, with the aim of studying the mesophotic zone, between -30 and -150 meters, and more specifically the marine animal forests of this still largely unknown ecosystem.This expedition to France is part of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC), which will take place in Nice, France, in June 2025. This will be an opportunity for us to share the results of our studies, and to do everything we can to improve the preservation and protection of the Ocean after major international bodies.

All this work will also feed into our educational missions, which serve as a basis for sharing knowledge: with its mobile caravan, Under The Pole works with the general public, schoolchildren and populations far from the ocean, to give them the chance to discover this universe.

The caravan will also be present at the Salon de l'Automobile from October 14 to 20, thanks to the technical and educational partnership that links us with Peugeot. We'll be welcoming a number of classes from the Paris region, to give them a chance to discover our expeditions.
