Meeting people on the street: a great moment in life

On Monday evenings, my marauding team and I visit the women of the Bois de Vincennes. "With our bare hands, without coffee or cookies, simply to meet them.
For women who have nothing, this may seem pointless.
And yet, with time and loyalty, they recognize us, smile at us, talk to us, laugh with us and tell us their stories. Probably not so useless.

Helping the homeless

I've been a volunteer with Aux Captifs la Libération for 2 years now, and every week at our shelter in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, I meet street people who have been wounded by precariousness, but who are rebuilding their lives with dignity and social ties. Help us to help them: between now and December 15, your donation will benefit from a 75% tax deduction and will be matched 100% by "Changer par le don". You donate €100, it costs you €25, but that's €200 for Les Captifs. Times 8! Go for it!

As I do every Tuesday, I meet up with a dozen or so men in prostitution situations who have been met in the woods by the volunteers and employees who make the rounds on the street. The aim is to prepare and share a meal together. Among them is Mohammed, whom I see regularly. On Tuesday, he tells me about his little boy. For the 1st time, he opens up about his personal life. It's in the faithfulness of our commitment that we manage to weave this bond. Thank you for your donation to continue our work!

An 8-fold donation for the poorest of the poor

This coloring page was given to me by Maryse a few months after I started my "street tours" with Aux captifs, la libération.  Maryse has lived on the streets for many, many years.  Every moment - however brief - spent chatting assures her that someone is thinking of her, that she is not forgotten.  I treasure her drawing and contemplate it regularly to help me on my way.  I hope it will thank you for supporting our association, which helps the most disadvantaged.

A smile, a hello, a listening ear, a chat about the weather or current affairs, or sometimes a more intense discussion about friendship or family... A simple exchange from one human being to another and, together, building a bond of trust over time. That's what I experience every week when I go out on the streets with "Aux captifs, la libération".
